Propalms, Inc. Wholly Owned Subsidiary Focus Systems Pushes Further Into Cloud Computing

Company Inks Deal With Prominent Law Firm

NORTH YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND -- (Marketwire) -- 01/28/10 -- Propalms, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PRPM) is pleased to announce the Company's wholly owned subsidiary Focus Systems, a provider of Remote Desktop and VoIP phone systems to the SMB market, has completed an agreement to roll out its Remote Desktop solution with a prominent law firm located in Washington State. The remote environment provides for a suite of hosted applications, including proprietary systems specific to the law firm, as well as access security, data backup, client file archiving, and the integration of a paperless solution.

This latest contract is just another step in the wave of customers expected to explode into the cloud computing market over the next 5 years, and positions Focus Systems in the legal profession's vertical market. According to an article on December 28, 2009 in Barron's, the Gartner Group stated that "by 2014, 10% of the workforce will consist of employees using diskless PCs or stripped-down desktops managed remotely. In fact, it figures the number of 'virtual desktops' will climb to 70 million in 2014 from 368,000 last year."

While companies such as IBM focus on the large enterprise business and government sector, Focus Systems' market is targeted to the SMBs that make up a large part of the US workforce and can historically make business decisions and changes more quickly. In addition to reducing internal IT spending for the SMB, remote environments can "reduce operation costs by as much as 40% by extending the life of existing PCs, bolstering security, improving power savings and enhancing disaster recovery," according to the same article referenced above.

"The value proposition with cloud computing is phenomenal. People talk about going green, well it does not get any better than this for the IT world. We are not only reducing the cost associated with IT for our customers, but we are reducing power costs for them, shrinking the waste hitting our landfills from old PCs being tossed out, and are ultimately reducing the carbon footprint from commuting when the percentage of remote workers increases along with their productivity," stated Bill Wright, President of Focus Systems, Inc.

Digital Transformation is much more than a buzzword. The radical shift to digital mechanisms for almost every process is evident across all industries and verticals. This is often especially true in financial services, where the legacy environment is many times unable to keep up with the rapidly shifting demands of the consumer. The constant pressure to provide complete, omnichannel delivery of customer-facing solutions to meet both regulatory and customer demands is putting enormous pressure on...
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
The standardization of container runtimes and images has sparked the creation of an almost overwhelming number of new open source projects that build on and otherwise work with these specifications. Of course, there's Kubernetes, which orchestrates and manages collections of containers. It was one of the first and best-known examples of projects that make containers truly useful for production use. However, more recently, the container ecosystem has truly exploded. To Really Work for Enterprises, MultiCloud Adoption Requires Far Better and Inclusive Cloud Monitoring and Cost Management … But How? Overwhelmingly, even as enterprises have adopted cloud computing and are expanding to multi-cloud computing, IT leaders remain concerned about how to monitor, manage and control costs across hybrid and multi-cloud deployments.
