Justsystems Joins Forces With IBM DB2 to Offer Platform for Native XML Applications

ATLANTA, November 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at the XML 2005 Conference & Expo, Atlanta, Justsystems Inc., a leading enterprise software provider, announced that it was working with IBM to deliver a comprehensive solution for native XML applications.

The solution is based on IBM's next version of DB2, code-named "Viper". The combination of Viper and Justsystems' xfy front-end application platform will provide native support for XML content handling and business intelligence.

Internet applications have evolved from stand-alone, thick-client solutions toward thinner, Web-based services that are increasingly platform-independent. XML is a key enabling technology that continues to accelerate this growth process. Multi-structured databases that can store and manage both traditional relational data and native XML documents will be an essential component in future computing architectures.

"The Internet has changed the face of business, offering an immediate channel for conducting transactions and communicating with customers, distribution channels, and trading partners," said Bernie Spang, director IBM database marketing. "The combined solutions of Justsystems' xfy and IBM DB2 Viper can provide critical information about customer and partner interactions, orders, trades, contracts, and quotes that flow in and out of dynamic, externally facing systems."

"IBM is the worldwide leader in creating innovative Web services for e-business, and DB2 is the leading database management system," said Mr. Kazunori Ukigawa, CEO of Justsystems Corporation. "We are pleased to work with IBM in order to offer a new, comprehensive XML solution."

More about the xfy Enterprise Solution for DB2 Viper

xfy Enterprise Solution for DB2 Viper(1) serves as a platform for creating and running native XML applications extremely rapidly. It is based on xfy Basic Edition 1.0, released in Oct. 2005, which elevated XML beyond its beginnings as a document and data format. On the xfy platform, a document becomes the fundamental executable unit of an XML application -- an "XML Object" that contains both data and business logic.

xfy Enterprise Solution for DB2 Viper provides semi-automated, real-time application creation from existing XML resources, such as XML Schema or XQuery results.

xfy Enterprise Solution for DB2 Viper is written entirely in Java and runs on multiple platforms, including Windows, Linux, and Macintosh.

Justsystems first announced the beta version of xfy technology in November 2004. After much technical feedback and many favorable evaluations from experienced programmers and developers worldwide, Justsystems released xfy Basic Edition 1.0 in October 2005.

xfy Basic Edition 1.0 and xfy Developer's Toolkit 1.0 are available free for non-commercial individual or academic use.

(1) xfy Enterprise Solution for DB2 Viper consists of xfy Enterprise Solution 1.0 and DB2 Viper Extension kit. xfy Enterprise Solution 1.0 is scheduled for release in June, 2006. The DB2 Viper Extension Kit will follow.

Business professionals no longer wonder if they'll migrate to the cloud; it's now a matter of when. The cloud environment has proved to be a major force in transitioning to an agile business model that enables quick decisions and fast implementation that solidify customer relationships. And when the cloud is combined with the power of cognitive computing, it drives innovation and transformation that achieves astounding competitive advantage.
Machine learning has taken residence at our cities' cores and now we can finally have "smart cities." Cities are a collection of buildings made to provide the structure and safety necessary for people to function, create and survive. Buildings are a pool of ever-changing performance data from large automated systems such as heating and cooling to the people that live and work within them. Through machine learning, buildings can optimize performance, reduce costs, and improve occupant comfort by ...

According to Forrester Research, every business will become either a digital predator or digital prey by 2020. To avoid demise, organizations must rapidly create new sources of value in their end-to-end customer experiences. True digital predators also must break down information and process silos and extend digital transformation initiatives to empower employees with the digital resources needed to win, serve, and retain customers.
IoT is rapidly becoming mainstream as more and more investments are made into the platforms and technology. As this movement continues to expand and gain momentum it creates a massive wall of noise that can be difficult to sift through. Unfortunately, this inevitably makes IoT less approachable for people to get started with and can hamper efforts to integrate this key technology into your own portfolio. There are so many connected products already in place today with many hundreds more on the h...
