PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- JetBrains(TM), creator of intelligent, productivity-enhancing applications, announced today its IntelliJ(TM) IDEA has been named winner in the Best Java IDE category of the 10th annual Java Developer's Journal Readers' Choice Awards. IntelliJ IDEA was also runner up in the Best Java Application, Best J2EE Application Development Framework, and Most Innovative Java Product categories. The Readers' Choice Awards program, held annually by SYS-CON Media, recognizes excellence in solutions provided by the top Java vendors in the market.
In the annual competition, readers of Java Developer's Journal vote in a wide variety of categories for their favored software applications. The full results of the JDJ Readers' Choice Awards widely referred to as the "Oscars of the Software Industry," are available at http://jdj.sys-con.com/.
"Winning this award is recognition that our work on IDEA, particularly this year, has not gone unnoticed." said Alex Tkachman, Director of Marketing at JetBrains. "Despite consistent shifts in the Java IDE market over the past 4 years, our continued focus on helping developers become more productive, enjoy their work more and improve the quality of their code clearly addresses a basic need in the market. We are very pleased to receive this important confirmation of the value of IntelliJ IDEA's innovations."
"This Award reflects the clear leadership enjoyed in 2005 by JetBrains with IntelliJ IDEA in the Best IDE space," said SYS-CON Group Publisher & Editorial Director Jeremy Geelan. "We are very proud of Java Developer's Journal's proactive role in helping to facilitate this community-driven process and congratulate JetBrains and its product team on all the work that underlies the winning of this prestigious Award."
JetBrains continued breaking ground in IDE technology in 2005, with the release of IntelliJ IDEA 5.0, the announcement of the Companion Products Program, introduction of the TMate collaboration plug-in for IntelliJ IDEA and more.
