An industry first, Nastel AutoPilot® M6 for WebSphere DataPower now offers customers a single point of control over their infrastructure to accommodate growth, increased regulation and the challenge of application mobility and elasticity.

Economic pressure on enterprise organizations to consolidate has resulted in significant merger and acquisition activity, where companies are forced to use the IT assets and applications inherited through these consolidations. However, those inherited applications do not speak the same language as those already in use at the acquiring organization. IBM DataPower provides the translation mechanism that allows all applications to speak the same language, and connects them so they work in unison.

In today’s Service Oriented Architecture world, appliances such as IBM DataPower are used for intelligent routing of content and data transformation necessary for service interoperability. To successfully integrate applications without rebuilding them, tools such as enterprise service buss and SOA appliances act as “universal translators” to transform the content of one to the other and route between them. SOA appliances also route orders from one application service to another and maintain their intelligibility. However, these important business tasks are usually not monitored in the context of the business process the firm is using, making their effectiveness unknown.

Nastel AutoPilot provides a DataPower Expert with support for all of the metrics DataPower provides, including appliance statistics, users, connections, caching, memory, network and chassis. In addition, AutoPilot maintains a collection history for trending analysis. This instrumentation data is analyzed by the AutoPilot Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine which views it as part of a larger situation in conjunction with other performance data coming from sources such as Java, .NET, WMQ, ESB, Message Broker, transactions and CICS. AutoPilot CEP analyzes the performance of DataPower routing and transformation in relation to user specified business policy, and automatically delivers early warning indicators about potential business-impacting problems.
