Union Bank, N.A. today announced that Dana Edwards has joined the bank as executive vice president and Chief Technology Officer and Meera Rao has joined the bank as senior vice president, Chief Enterprise Architect. Edwards is responsible for leading the Information Technology Group, which supports more than 10,000 employees and manages all aspects of technology for retail banking, commercial banking and corporate services, while Rao is responsible for four areas of information technology architecture including: business architecture, data architecture, application architecture and technical architecture.
Both are based in Los Angeles and will report to Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Operations Officer John Itokazu.
“Our IT operations will be greatly enhanced by the addition of these two natural leaders,” said Itokazu. “We look forward to Dana’s stewardship of Union Bank’s information technology, and as we continue to grow the bank, Meera’s wealth of industry experience and strategic vision will be a great asset.”
Prior to joining Union Bank, Edwards served as senior vice president, technology executive for Bank of America and as vice president, managing director at Wachovia. In addition to Technology leadership roles, Edwards was instrumental in driving Diversity programs for those companies. He has held similar positions at Internet technology companies, environmental chemistry companies, and academic institutions.
He graduated from the College of Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and chemistry and earned his M.B.A. from the McColl School of Business, Queens University.
Prior to joining Union Bank, Rao worked for Bank of America for 10 years, where she was senior vice president, architecture executive. Previously, Rao delivered solutions for the financial services industry while working for Oracle and IBM. She earned her master’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina, Charlotte and an M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
