NEWBURYPORT, MA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/11/12 -- Entagen, a fast-growing software company providing Big Data analytics and collaboration solutions across the enterprise, announced today that it has joined hack/reduce, Boston's big data hacker community. The community, which launched earlier this month, is a unique collaboration between industry, government, academia and venture capital that will help Boston foster the talent and technologies necessary to galvanize the Bay State's leadership in the Big Data sector.
"For the Big Data industry to grow and innovate we must operate in a collaborative environment," said Christopher Bouton, CEO of Entagen. "Boston is rapidly becoming a leader in Big Data, and we are excited to join hack/reduce to work with the other key players in this space."
"Boston is a hot bed of activity in the Big Data space, and hack/reduce galvanizes all the great assets from the academic community, the venture community, the vendor community and the government to create a space that's about innovation," said Chris Lynch, co-founder of hack/reduce and partner at Atlas Venture. "I think we're on to something that is transformational not only to the economics of the state, but also to the rest of the country and ultimately the world, and we are excited to have Entagen on board to be a part of this."
Entagen's TripleMap platform helps companies identify opportunities and uncover patterns by connecting the dots in Big Data. Users search and analyze data entities and their associations in Entagen's proprietary high-performance Semantic Data Core technology, which aggregates structured and unstructured data and continuously scans both internal and external data sources. Users share this information visually by creating dynamic knowledge maps that allow for advanced analytics. TripleMap can be securely deployed within an organization's firewall or hosted in the cloud.
Entagen was recently named a winner in the Mass Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC) 2012 Technology Leadership Awards. Entagen won the "Innovative Technology of the Year: Big Data" award for its TripleMap platform. The MassTLC Awards celebrate the top people and companies in technology.
A study by IBM shows that we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day, which means that 90 percent of the data in the world has been created in the past two years alone. TripleMap provides a platform that allows companies to make sense of this data. TripleMap can be used by a retail company to help identify patterns based on items and accessories that shoppers buy; it can help pharmaceutical companies in their research and development efforts by identifying unexpected associations and novel patterns; it can help healthcare organizations identify specific patient cohorts, detect fraud and analyze trends; it can be used by legal firms to connect information relevant to cases.
