Global Semiconductor Alliance kündigt Preisträger 2012 an

Die Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), die Stimme der internationalen Halbleiterindustrie, gibt stolz die Preisträger bekannt, die bei der GSA Awards Dinner Celebration 2012 in Santa Clara (Kalifornien) geehrt werden. Die Preise werden jährlich an herausragende Halbleiterunternehmen weltweit verliehen, die durch ihren Erfolg, ihre Visionen und Strategien in der Branche hervorragende Leistungen erbracht haben.

Der prestigeträchtigste Preis der GSA, der Dr.-Morris-Chang-Preis für vorbildliche Führungsqualitäten, wurde Sir Robin Saxby, dem Gründer und CEO von ARM, verliehen. Jedes Jahr werden mit dieser Führungsauszeichnung (Leadership Award) Einzelne, gleich dem Namenspatron dieser Auszeichnung, für ihre außergewöhnlichen Beiträge zur Förderung von Entwicklung, Innovationen, Wachstum und langfristigen Chancen für die Halbleiterindustrie gewürdigt.

Mitglieder der GSA ermittelten die Gewinner des Preises für das meist geschätzte neue an der Börse notierte und allgemein an der Börse notierte Halbleiterunternehmen durch Abstimmung für die aufgrund ihrer Produkte, Visionen und Zukunftschancen meist geschätzten Unternehmen der Branche. Zu den Siegern gehören der Preis für das „angesehenste an der Börse notierte Halbleiterunternehmen, das 100 bis 250 Millionen US-Dollar Jahresumsatz erreicht“, vergeben an Entropic Communications Inc. und InvenSense, Inc., der Preis für das „angesehenste an der Börse notierte Halbleiterunternehmen, das 251 Millionen bis zu einer Milliarde US-Dollar Jahresumsatz erreicht“, verliehen an Cavium, Inc., sowie der Preis für das „angesehenste an der Börse notierte Halbleiterunternehmen, das über eine Milliarde US-Dollar Jahresumsatz erreicht“, der an Qualcomm Inc., geht.

Über den Preis für das „angesehenste privat geführte Unternehmen“ wurde durch die GSA-Mitglieder entschieden; er ging an Ambarella, Inc. Zu den weiteren Gewinnern gehören der Preis für das „finanziell am besten geführte Unternehmen, das bis zu 500 Millionen US-Dollar Jahresumsatz erreich“, der an Silicon Motion, Inc. verliehen wurde, und der Preis für das „finanziell am besten geführte Unternehmen, das über 500 Millionen US-Dollar Jahresumsatz erreicht“, den die Broadcom Corporation erhielt. Beide Unternehmen wurden auf Grundlage spezifischer finanzieller Messgrößen für ihre fortwährend gezeigten besten finanziellen Gesamtleistungen gewürdigt.

Der Emerging Company CEO Council der GSA, Risikokapitalgeber und ausgewählte Unternehmer aus der Branche wählten den Gewinner des Preises für das „beste zu beobachtende Privatunternehmen“ aus, indem sie das Unternehmen ermittelten, das das Potenzial gezeigt hat, den Markt oder die Branche durch die innovative Verwendung von Halbleitertechnologie oder eine neue Anwendung für Halbleitertechnologie positiv zu verändern. Der diesjährige Gewinner ist Wilocity.

Als globales Unternehmen würdigt die GSA Unternehmen mit Sitz in den Regionen Europa/Naher und Mittlerer Osten/Afrika (EMEA) und Asien-Pazifik. Die Preisträger werden vom Führungsgremium jeder jeweiligen Region ausgewählt; es sind Halbleiterunternehmen, die sich bei Produkten, Visionen, Führungskräften und Erfolg auf dem Markt am stärksten erwiesen haben. Der Empfänger des diesjährigen Preises für „das herausragende Halbleiterunternehmen im Raum Asien-Pazifik“ ist MediaTek Inc. und „das herausragende Halbleiterunternehmen im Raum EMEA“ ist CSR plc.

Die Halbleiter-Finanzanalysten Joseph Moore von Morgan Stanley und Vernon Essi von Needham & Company waren jeweils verantwortlich für die Nennung eines Unternehmens für den Preis zum „Lieblingsunternehmen der Analysten“. Beide Analysten trafen ihre Entscheidung auf Grundlage historischer sowie prognostizierter Daten, darunter Aktienpreis, Gewinn pro Aktie, Umsatzprognosen und Produktleistung. Morgan Stanley wählte Maxim Integrated Products, Inc., und Needham & Company wählte Silicon Laboratories für die Verleihung dieser Preise aus.
