VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/17/12 -- Simba Technologies Inc., the industry's source for standards-based relational and multi-dimensional data connectivity solutions, announced today the immediate release of Simba XMLA Provider for Oracle OLAP 2.0 (Simba XMLA for Oracle). Simba XMLA for Oracle enables users to connect from XMLA compatible Business Intelligence (BI) clients to an Oracle OLAP cube. It directly connects familiar BI applications such as SAP BusinessObjects Analysis, IBM Cognos and MicroStrategy to an Oracle OLAP database - enabling powerful query and analysis of multi-dimensional data.
This update to the Simba XMLA for Oracle has the same new features as its companion product, the Simba MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP 4.0. This includes Oracle 12c database support, advanced date filtering, custom member support and Microsoft Excel 2013 support via SimbaO2X 4.5 - the de facto solution for connecting OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) based applications, such as Microsoft Excel, to XML for Analysis (XMLA) based data sources from multiple vendors. The XMLA infrastructure has been enhanced to run on Windows Server 2012 and Linux. The secure XMLA service interface now has an easy-to-use administration console and can run on-premise or in the cloud.
"We are pleased to extend our OLAP services even further with the update to our XMLA provider," said Cathy Dumas, Simba's Director of Program Management, Analytics. "Simba XMLA for Oracle is a mid-tier provider that responds to XMLA requests so you can continue to use the tools you're familiar with. Ad-hoc query and analysis have never been easier, and connecting to your favorite BI tool has never been simpler."
Simba XMLA for Oracle is the most advanced provider available that responds to XMLA requests - enabling users to interactively build reports, slice and dice data, drill into details, and summarize with dashboards. Connectivity can be established without the need to configure data sources or install any software on the client machines. Simply connect to the XMLA service and everything works!
Simba XMLA for Oracle is built upon Simba's proven, standards-based data technologies, incorporating the company's expertise and deep domain knowledge. Simba XMLA for Oracle is easy-to-install server for your software. The underlying MDX connectivity technology is shared with the Simba MDX Provider for Oracle OLAP. There is no difference between the two in how queries are processed. The difference is only where the product is installed and the connectivity protocols used.
