AlienVault, the leading Unified Security Management provider committed to making security visibility complete, simple and affordable, today announced the appointment of Rita Selvaggi as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). As CMO, Selvaggi will work closely with AlienVault’s executive team to align the global marketing, product, and sales organizations around the company’s goal of delivering security visibility to the under-served mid-market.
“Rita has had great experience in understanding the needs of IT professionals in the mid-market and will be an incredible asset to AlienVault as we continue to improve how we deliver Unified Security Management to businesses that have been neglected by the security industry,” said AlienVault President and CEO, Barmak Meftah. “With our focus on providing all of the essential security capabilities in one easy-to-use and affordable solution, we have a great opportunity to bring ‘enterprise-class’ security to those organizations that just don’t have large security teams in-house. We’re very fortunate to have Rita on board to help us deliver on that promise.”
Selvaggi has more than 25 years of experience in high technology. From 2006 through 2010, she was Senior Vice President of Marketing for SolarWinds (NYSE: SWI), a leader in the IT management software industry that went public in May 2009. At SolarWinds, Selvaggi served as a member of the senior executive team that built the company’s disruptive model for high volume and velocity software sales to IT professionals in mid-market enterprises. Prior to joining SolarWinds, Selvaggi held executive and senior management positions at Blue Coat Systems, Permeo Technologies, 724 Solutions, pcOrder, and IBM.
Most recently, Selvaggi has served as an advisor to portfolio companies of Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV) in the Bay Area, and Austin Ventures in Austin, TX. Selvaggi holds a B.A. from the University of Delaware and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
“AlienVault is a fast-growth company built by security professionals who saw and addressed a very real need in the mid-market,” said Selvaggi. “AlienVault’s Unified Security Management product, combined with the widely supported, community-based AlienVault Open Threat Exchange (OTX) provides IT managers and security managers with broad security visibility through a single management console that is easy to use and affordable. I look forward to helping AlienVault serve IT professionals in all enterprises who want a complete security solution that is big on value and low in complexity.”
