LAS VEGAS, March 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Vanguard Integrity Professionals, the experts on information security for System z®, today announced the immediate availability of Vanguard Cleanup™, a new application designed to improve enterprise security and streamline audit and compliance requirements. Vanguard Cleanup automatically monitors IBM RACF databases, identifies and reports on unreferenced, unused and duplicate RACF entities, and generates commands to delete unwanted user, group, connect, permit, dataset and general resource profiles.
"Organizations often have tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of unused RACF dataset and general resource profiles that create significant security risks and audit challenges," said Brian Marshall, vice president of research and development at Vanguard. "Vanguard Cleanup makes it easy to automatically identify and remove these unused entities to improve enterprise security and compliance."
Vanguard Cleanup runs in the background over a period of time specified by the security administrator, usually 12 to 18 months, then automatically reports on RACF profiles that have not been accessed and generates the commands needed to delete unwanted profiles. The software can be installed and deployed in less than a day and can automatically restore any profiles deleted inadvertently. Vanguard Cleanup produces a wide range of usage reports, including: history collection detail, days unreferenced dataset or resource profiles, and unreferenced groups, group access permissions, user IDs and connects.
