FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- They'll upgrade your laptop. They'll defrag your hard drive. But never ask a geek to dance - unless it's for a good cause.
DancingGeeks.com is seeking the dorkiest, most embarrassing displays of rhythmic nerdiness in the country. Viewers will vote on their favorites and Vitaver will donate a total of $10,000 to charity in the name of the top dancers: $5,000 to first place, $3,000 to second place, and $2,000 to third place.
Vitaver will also award cash prizes to the top dancers: $500 to first place, $250 to second place, and $100 for third place.
"We want to bring the IT/Tech community together for charity in the most hilarious way we know possible. Our hope is that this event will become an annual tradition," says Pablo Vitaver, CEO of Vitaver. "The goal is to support nonprofits that are doing great work, while also supporting our fellow business community. And, we want to dispel the myth that geeks can't dance!"
Submissions will be accepted via the Dancing Geeks website through July 14, 2013. Voting ends on July 15th, with first, second, and third place winners announced on July 16th.
Winning dancers will select a participating charity from a list including Class Wish, Children's Cancer Research Fund, IT Women, Canines for Disabled Kids, My Stuff Bags Foundation, Geeks Without Bounds, Reading is Fundamental, and the South Florida Digital Alliance.
Current submissions can be viewed on the Dancing Geeks YouTube channel.
