TiEcon 2014 Releases Full Conference Agenda

The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), Silicon Valley, announced today its full program schedule for the upcoming TiEcon 2014, the largest entrepreneurship conference in the world. Taking place May 16-17 in the heart of Silicon Valley at the Santa Clara Convention Center, this year’s conference is designed to spark discussion and ideas around the latest industry trends and arm innovators with the tools they need to successfully grow companies in several rapidly-evolving technology sectors.

This year’s grand keynotes include executives who are shaping the future of the technology industry, including Steve Mollenkopf, Qualcomm; Mike Rhodin, IBM; and Vishal Sikka, SAP. Other inspiring keynotes include Shahid Khan, the richest South Asian on the Forbes list of billionaires and owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Romesh Wadhawani, another Forbes billionaire and CEO of Symphony Technology Group.

TiEcon 2014 is broken down into two parts: Day one is divided into three full-day tracks on the fastest-growing sectors of the technology industry, including Big Data, Cloud Infrastructure and the Internet of Things. Each track features its own keynotes, fireside chats and panel discussions consisting of thought leaders, influential executives, VCs, and presentations by the hottest start-ups. The second day introduces two new tracks on disruptions in Healthcare and technology in the oil and gas industry, and brings back popular sessions on TiE Youth, Entrepreneurship and Impact Investing.

“It is for good reason that Worth Magazine ranked TiEcon alongside TED and the World Economic Forum among the top 10 conferences worldwide for ideas and entrepreneurship. This year's agenda lives up to the high expectations that technology professionals in the entrepreneurial ecosystem worldwide have of TiEcon,” said Venktesh Shukla, President of TiE Silicon Valley. “With inspiring stories of highly successful entrepreneurs and keynotes from the movers and shakers of the technology world, as well as presentations from the highest potential start-ups under the TiE 50 awards program, this year's conference may break the record set for attendance and participation achieved last year.”

Winners of the TiE 50 awards will also be announced at the conference. This year’s TiE 50 program reached a new benchmark with entries from over 2,000 companies, and the top 100 of these companies will be presenting their ideas at TiEcon. Of these 100, 50 will be selected as the TiE 50 winners.

TiEcon attendees will have the opportunity to network, browse through the Expo Hall and discover the latest technology, participate in a roundtable discussion with a mentor of their choice at MentorConnect, and meet potential co-founders and domain experts who share a similar vision at FounderConnect. TiEcon 2014 is a unique opportunity for the entire entrepreneurship ecosystem to learn from each other, make valuable connections and participate in wealth creation.

In addition to all the benefits, IoT is also bringing new kind of customer experience challenges - cars that unlock themselves, thermostats turning houses into saunas and baby video monitors broadcasting over the internet. This list can only increase because while IoT services should be intuitive and simple to use, the delivery ecosystem is a myriad of potential problems as IoT explodes complexity. So finding a performance issue is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
Machine Learning helps make complex systems more efficient. By applying advanced Machine Learning techniques such as Cognitive Fingerprinting, wind project operators can utilize these tools to learn from collected data, detect regular patterns, and optimize their own operations. In his session at 18th Cloud Expo, Stuart Gillen, Director of Business Development at SparkCognition, discussed how research has demonstrated the value of Machine Learning in delivering next generation analytics to imp...

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, demonstrated how to move beyond today's coding paradigm and shared the must-have mindsets for removing complexity from the develo...
Basho Technologies has announced the latest release of Basho Riak TS, version 1.3. Riak TS is an enterprise-grade NoSQL database optimized for Internet of Things (IoT). The open source version enables developers to download the software for free and use it in production as well as make contributions to the code and develop applications around Riak TS. Enhancements to Riak TS make it quick, easy and cost-effective to spin up an instance to test new ideas and build IoT applications. In addition to...

Big Data engines are powering a lot of service businesses right now. Data is collected from users from wearable technologies, web behaviors, purchase behavior as well as several arbitrary data points we’d never think of. The demand for faster and bigger engines to crunch and serve up the data to services is growing exponentially. You see a LOT of correlation between “Cloud” and “Big Data” but on Big Data and “Hybrid,” where hybrid hosting is the sanest approach to the Big Data Infrastructure pro...

A critical component of any IoT project is what to do with all the data being generated. This data needs to be captured, processed, structured, and stored in a way to facilitate different kinds of queries. Traditional data warehouse and analytical systems are mature technologies that can be used to handle certain kinds of queries, but they are not always well suited to many problems, particularly when there is a need for real-time insights.
The best-practices for building IoT applications with Go Code that attendees can use to build their own IoT applications.
