FacialNetwork, Global Leader In Cloud-Based Facial Recognition, Names Satya Yenigalla As Chief Operating Officer

A proven C-level leader in Silicon Valley, Yenigalla brings more than 20 years' experience building startups and growing Fortune 500 companies to FacialNetwork

LAS VEGAS, Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Downtown Las Vegas, Nev. — Further solidifying its position as the world leader in cloud-based facial recognition, FacialNetwork, Inc. has announced the hiring of Satya Yenigalla as the company's chief operating officer.

Yenigalla brings his talents and experience to FacialNetwork just as the company is poised to release a suite of applications that will revolutionize facial recognition across all edge devices including mobile, wearables and tablets.

"The team at FacialNetwork really impressed me. They are the thought leaders in the facial recognition space, bar none," Yenigalla said.  "FacialNetwork is at the confluence of three pivotal technology trends and is the only company leveraging the latest advancements in mobile, cloud and big data to create practical facial recognition applications."

Even with a stellar background at tech powerhouses like Samsung SDS, LG CNS, Oracle, Sybase (now SAP), Digital Equipment Corporation (now HP), and Cloudscape (now IBM), Yenigalla's decision to join FacialNetwork was an easy one. "To paraphrase one of our Silicon Valley partners, this technology is more than disruptive. FacialNetwork is the industry leader in an industry that doesn't even exist yet, cloud-based facial recognition," Yenigalla said.

Yenigalla has a master's degree in computer science from Villanova University and has spent more than two decades building tech startups and managing growth at Fortune 500 firms. He has served as a core team member with high-level executives at the most prominent Silicon Valley companies and Asia-Pacific global conglomerates.

"I was incredibly impressed with Satya's experience, talents, and network of influencers in Silicon Valley and around the world," said Kevin Alan Tussy, CEO of FacialNetwork, Inc. "Satya has been a key part of so many successful companies that when he chose to join FacialNetwork full-time, I knew we would achieve escape velocity."

The recently announced Facial Recognition Enterprise App Suite allows companies and developers to use facial recognition in their apps on smartphones, wearables, tablets, and other edge devices.

FacialNetwork's initial beta application, NameTag, launched on Google Glass as a search engine for people, scanning photos against millions of publicly sourced images in seconds.

FacialNetwork became the subject of an international media firestorm in February 2014 when Senator Al Franken wrote a three-page open letter to FacialNetwork expressing his concerns specifically about the power of the NameTag application. Google Glass users can request beta access at www.NameTag.ws.

The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...
The hierarchical architecture that distributes "compute" within the network specially at the edge can enable new services by harnessing emerging technologies. But Edge-Compute comes at increased cost that needs to be managed and potentially augmented by creative architecture solutions as there will always a catching-up with the capacity demands. Processing power in smartphones has enhanced YoY and there is increasingly spare compute capacity that can be potentially pooled. Uber has successfully ...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
