Diagnostic Centers of America Completes $2 Million Purchase From Siemens to Become Only Medical Facility in South Florida With W

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- A revolutionary breakthrough in cardiac and diagnostic medical imaging, enabling physicians to obtain clearer images of the heart in less time than it takes to beat and without the need for beta blockers, has been purchased by Diagnostic Centers of America (DCA) at a cost of more than $2 million.

The installation of the new SOMATOM Definition dual source CT system from Siemens Medical Solutions at DCA makes it the only medical imaging facility in South Florida offering patients the world's most advanced computed tomography (CT) technology.

"We were one of the first facilities to bring digital mammography to the area and the first center in South Florida to introduce High Field Open MRI. Now DCA boasts the world's most advanced diagnostic scanner with an optimal combination of the lowest radiation exposure of any medical facility in South Florida and the fastest examination time," said Diagnostic Centers of America CEO Steven Shullman.

A medical 'Open House' party on Friday, January 25 from 5.00-8.00 p.m. at DCA's Delray Beach location on 6298 Linton Boulevard will present South Florida's medical community with its first-ever look at the latest breakthrough in cardiac and diagnostic imaging.

"Dual X-ray sources supply twice the imaging power while reducing radiation exposure by as much as 50 percent than the most advanced single- source CT systems and we're looking forward to showing it off to physicians and staff," Shullman said.

The new scanner also serves patients not previously eligible for cardiac CT exams because of conditions that preclude use of beta blockers, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema or other conditions that affect breathing. It can also reduce the need for invasive diagnostic cardiac procedures. Physicians can now review results before patients leave the table, allowing for immediate determination of treatment options. The highest image quality can also be obtained when examining patients who are obese, short of breath or who have elevated heart rates.
