"Virtualization will help our customers be more agile and efficient", noted Mike Neil, Microsoft's General Manager, during his keynote at SYS-CON's 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo, in San Jose, CA, "and there are three areas these companies are focused on - to drive costs down, increase efficiency, and using virtualization to provide new capabilities."
Sponsored by more than 40 companies, SYS-CON's 4th International Virtualization Conference & Expo attracted over 1,000 preregistered delgates from 23 different countries, and a special delegation from Tokyo, Japan.

Neil discussed the directions for Microsoft's virtualization and management technologies, and the related applications and infrastructure that will make IT stronger, leaner, and more strategic. He also mentioned that they are seeing more virtualization in the enterprise.

Neil also discussed what Microsoft is doing in the cloud. Customers need to interoperate cloud and on-premise systems and Microsoft is providing cloud-based services. He discussed their Azure platform, from cloud storage to managing identity in the cloud.
