deltathree Selects NexTone's NPX Scalable Session Management Product

GAITHERSBURG, Md. and NEW YORK, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NexTone Communications, the market leader in scalable session management of real-time IP services such as Voice over IP (VoIP), and deltathree , a leading provider of hosted Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based VoIP products and services for service providers and end users worldwide, announced that deltathree has expanded its use of NexTone's session management products in support of deltathree's VoIP solutions for the global service provider, reseller and consumer markets.

deltathree is deploying the NexTone NAT Proxy (NPX) within its network to enhance VoIP connectivity. deltathree selected NexTone's NPX offering to more efficiently direct and manage expanding VoIP call volumes as the company grows its service provider, reseller, and consumer businesses. The NexTone NPX solution fits deltathree's strategy of deploying a VoIP network solution that is designed to scale rapidly to meet growth in customer call volume across market segments without requiring significant increases in capital expenditures and operating expense. NexTone's NPX offers NAT traversal and SIP handoff to the deltathree network through its enhanced FlexPeer(TM) capabilities.

The adoption of NexTone's NPX offering builds upon deltathree's existing deployment of NexTone's Multiprotocol Signaling Switch (MSW) with its FlexRoute(TM) and FlexPolicy(TM) software functionality. NexTone's FlexRoute supports individual session level granularity for call routing which allows companies such as deltathree to reassign capacity dynamically at the Decision Support Objects (DSO) level rather than by trunk group; the result is dramatically enhanced network capacity utilization. At the same time, NexTone's intelligent routing simplifies network operations by automating tasks at the Network Operations Center (NOC), with NexTone's route database able to handle over 300,000 routes. deltathree is utilizing NexTone's FlexPolicy to manage real-time traffic by better enforcing network policies on a virtual basis. The stateful signaling management offered with FlexPolicy enables deltathree to build routing rules and policies in a controlled and granular manner.

deltathree is also using NexTone's Real-time Session Management (RSM) functionality to help optimize its network for transport and application quality of service (QoS). The RSM functionality provides stateful intelligence that allows deltathree to manage transport capacity with high redundancy, and to load balance traffic dynamically.
